SKYWATCH--I'm off again...

I'm US-bound again... The very, very short story is that I have decided to bring my aging mother over here to be closer. Health care is so expensive in the US, and here in Belgrade there are very nice 'homes' with 24-hour medical, home-cooking, and other amenities and they cost a fraction of what they would in the US. And there's cable TV, for non-Serbian speakers!

I'll be posting again from Belgrade in the second half of October. In the meantime, you'll see more photos of Seattle.

Have one last look for the moment of these airplane trails in a Belgrade sky.

See other skies at SKYWATCH FRIDAY.

Bibi, what a wise choice. I hope she is well enough to go out and see the city from time to time. Grand daughter now she will enjoy to see. I wish you a safe and a pleasant flight! Zlatibor could do her a world of good-the fresh air!

I can't think of a nicer thing to do than to make the decision you did, regarding your mother's care. I am in nursing school currently, and also work as a home health care aide and I can assure you, I'll NEVER put my parents in the sort of nursing facilities which exist in the US.

With your decision, not only do you save a lot of money, but your mother spends her time in a much more authentic setting, gets more attention and resides in a cosmopolitan atmosphere, should she leave the building. I'm saying this assuming: 1) elderly care is a much smaller scale, intimate operation than in the US and 2) your mother's USA option wouldn't involve outdoor trips to NYC or San Fran.

What a brave decision you have made. My husband's mother lives near Olympia, WA and thankfully she has incredible health coverage from having been an employee of the state. We've had to make a couple lengthy trips up there to supervise her medical care - it's tough being long distance. We looked at moving her down here to CA closer to us, but then she would loose her best health benefits outside of Medicare. I hope the trip goes well for you and your mother. Make sure to take care of yourself, too.

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
