SKYWATCH--the silk factory in Pancevo

Actually, as you see, it's now a defunct silk factory in the nearby town of Pancevo.

A silk industry was begun in Pancevo in 1733 and this particular factory was built in 1900.  Silk was produced until 1967, but the industry was already declining and the 234 year-old tradition came to an end.

See other skies on SKYWATCH.

The building has a lot of character to it.

Is the building sitting idle now? It would be a lovely hotel.

They should use this building for something else so it wouldn't be vacant. It is a nice old building with lots of history so I think there would be some interest in it.

Such a beautiful shot!

I like the treatment of the photo as it dramatizes the demise of the place! I thought most silk was made in China!

I'm playing catch-up here after being too busy to visit for a bit. I always love your posts, but my fave lately: the shadows on the Warsaw wall.

This shot has an eerie look.

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
