WEEKEND REFLECTION--Olivera

Meet Olivera, who occasionally plays on Knez Mihailova street. Don't you love her guitar?
Spring is slowly coming...it's warm, but few buds yet on the tree reflected in the window behind her.

ABC WEDNESDAY-"Z" is for "zany"

Ride The Duck! That's something I always wanted to do, and recently my daughter and son-in-law treated me to a zany tour of Seattle on this amphibious vehicle. We had the time of our lives, guided through Seattle's neighborhoods and over Lake Union by Captain Tristan Shout..... (Shake it up, baby!)

If you ever have a chance to ride a Duck (there are many cities that offer these tours), please, please go! You'll love it. And buy a 'quacker', too, and toot (quack) as you wave to passers-by.

See other Z's at Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC WEDNESDAY.

Roll 'em!

Here we are on Republic Square again. That's the National Museum on the left, the statue of Prince Mihail in the middle, and the National Theater in the background. The black 'Baltimore Police' car is a prop for the filming of John Cusack's new film, The Raven, depicting the final days of Edgar Allan Poe, which is being filmed partly here in Belgrade. If you click on the link, you'll see that the actor has been enjoying Belgrade's well-known nightlife.

ADDENDUM: Below is a photo I snapped last Saturday when I saw the film crew, and this time the actor (seated), in Kalemegdan Park, waiting for 'action'.

Up from the depths...

Terazije (Teh-RAHZ-ee-yeh) Theatre (read more here) is a very popular theater, showing fabulous musicals, for the most part. You can't see its entrance here, but on this large square is the back of the theater, which I'd never really paid attention to before. But look! Up out of the flat stones of the square rises this elevator that loads and unloads heavy props. I was fascinated to see it rise, since I never even knew it existed.

Feeling lucky?

The girl on the ball behind the car is saying, "I'm telling you, if you don't play, you won't win." That's true. I'm not a gambler, but I do keep saying, "Ah, when I win the lottery..."

I think I should choose a set of numbers and always play them... I'll let you know what happens.

Do you play Lotto or any 'big money' games?

Lost in LOST...

So...how does an ex-pat like me spend her spare time? Obviously, I have a blog, and second to that, a full-time job, :<) so I don't have a lot of spare time and don't spend most of it watching television, but when I think there were only two channels when I first came to Belgrade, TV has come a long way. Currently I receive 63 domestic and international channels on my cable installation, plus another 20 local ones on my regular TV set-up. Like a lot of 'entertainment,' not all of it is worth watching. However, I must admit I am addicted to LOST. My son bought me the entire first four seasons, and I am working my way through Season Three at the present time, trying to catch up with Season Three every evening on local TV...I'm almost there....and then it's Season Four. Waiting for Season Five, which you in the US may already be looking at.
