One Year Later and Still There...

This photo is genuinely a déjà vu, since one year ago I published an almost identical photo of this unfortunate fellow who is still waiting by the highway. Please check it out. I have learned that he was apparently dumped here by someone who just stopped his car and shoved him out. This faithful dog has never given up hope that his owner will return. I sometimes walk Bibi this way, but it makes me so sad to see him there, day and night, in fair and foul weather. I'd love to get my hands on the person who did this. I should add that people who live close by feed him on a regular basis, but he won't come to anyone.

Bad marketing strategy?

Being in the right location is a key ingredient in a business's success. To me, it looks like this fellow who's selling nationalistic souvenirs would do better on one of Belgrade's downtown streets rather than beside a corn field just next to a toll booth on the Belgrade-Novi Sad highway. On the other hand, if he's willing to sit there in the hot sun, I imagine he must have some sort of steady clientele! Note: took this photo a couple of weeks ago before the rain, which has somewhat dimnished, but it's coooold...!

Sky Watch Friday--the road to Belgrade

Belgrade, or "Beograd," as it is known here, means "white city." Here is the White City under a lavender sky, viewed from the Belgrade-Niš highway as we returned from a trip the other week.

Waiting by the side of the highway

This dog has been by the side of the major highway near my home every day since early last fall. He's usually lying down right next to the road's edge, sleeping, waiting... Yesterday I took some food to him, but when I approached he skitted off and watched at me warily. I'm sure he's one of Belgrade's many abandoned dogs that must have been tossed out at this place, and is waiting....for his owner's return. Very, very sad.
