WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--caught in granite

Yesterday I showed you St. Marko's Church with a monument in the park beside it. Here's a shot from behind that monument, which is dedicated to children killed in the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999.

Distress....

A big penny for this woman's thoughts....  Has she recently lost someone, or is she just now suddenly reminded of her mortality after having looked at the death notices posted behind her?

ABC WEDNESDAY "K" is for "king-size"

I like ice cream, but doubt if I could tackle something like this....

I've posted about recycling here several times before, and though there is a movement for official recycling, most is done by individuals like this man, spotted on Knez Mihailova Street.

A piece of sunshine from times past. An old, East-German manufactured Trabant sits alone under a tree.

Looks like it's well-loved, though!

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--anything....?

In the late Seventies, fifteen year-old actress-then-model, Brooke Shields, purred in an ad for Calvin Klein jeans, "You know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing. Absolutely nothing," which made some believe she wore no underwear under her jeans.

I'm not sure if Brooke did, but I don't think  this girl does!

SKYWATCH--gray sky, black bird

It's a black bird, not a blackbird, at least black in its silhouette. I think it's a pigeon, perched under an arch in Kalemegdan Park.  Just  below it stands this fellow, so I imagine the bird's keeping its distance! See other skies on SKYWATCH.

Homeless

When I walk early in Tasmajdan Park, I often see this woman on the same park bench.  Of course she's not there in inclement weather, but when it's warmish, she is, and I go early enough to see her awaken, make her 'bed', and then do her hair.  And then she speaks, sometimes softly, sometimes in a harsh voice, to  her suitcase.

Of course I don't stick around to eavesdrop, but this is so sad. I wonder what her story is.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"J" is for "Just by chance"

Or maybe "Just for fun," since I can't help but not believe these two ladies set out with matching heads and weren't aware of it.  One has a definite preference for red, the other for blue.
