ABC WEDNESDAY--R is for Recreation

Originally I planned R for 'rowing,' but he's paddling his board here on Green Lake in Seattle. So Recreation it is.

Blue in Seattle

Looks blue and has hair to go with her mood....

La Poutine

The hearty dish many Quebecois love to it is poutine (poo-TEEN).  The classic version (in the photo closest to you) is with fries, nicely seasoned gravy, and cheese curds (sometimes some sort of cheddar, but often a mozzarella-type cheese).

I couldn't very well leave Montreal without trying one, and as you might guess, that's the only big meal I had that day.  In the background you can see my friend chose a more elaborate one, and she ate it all.....

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY--the apple

This apple ('une pomme' where I am in Montreal) served as a model for me one morning.

SKYWATCH--The Jacques Cartier Bridge

Quite impressive, this Jacques Cartier Bridge that I've crossed over several times in Montreal. It was opened to traffic on May 14th, 1930.

Les Murs du Son

A very good long-term friend plays in a rock band here in Montreal!  The group is Les Murs du Son and you can check them out on Facebook right here. She is my age, not that I'm revealing just exactly what that is, but just goes to show you that you only need to be young at heart.

They play Pink Floyd....

ABC WEDNESDAY--"Q" is for "Quebec"

I am enjoying hearing Canadian French spoken here in Montreal where I am for a few days. It's quite different from the French French my ear is attuned to, and there's also a strong movement to keep English at bay.  Most places in the world stop signs say STOP, but here it's arrêt  and even written again four more times here, for a four-way stop, er... arrêt
