HOTEL BALKAN....no more....

Oh, this is a sad one for me. Hotel Balkan was one of Belgrade's oldest, and this part had been a cafe (and very nice restaurant waaay back there), called The Orient Express. I'd posted about this place before.

It seems it's going to  be revamped....one more piece of history may bite the dust. I took this photo through the front door window.

I really like this  house, an old one from 1910, whose garden in the summer turns into a cafe.

Oddly enough, I'd never noticed the mural  before...or maybe it wasn't there.

Definitely unaware....I was close to these guys when I took the photo and stood there a few seconds to compose it. I think I could have taken a close-up of their faces, so absorbed they were in their 'conversations...'

Today would have been my late husband's 70th birthday.....  He would have loved to have one of these, though they weren't good for him, or for anybody for that matter.  But we could have shared one....

I was good.  So good. I did  not give in to buying any of these super-sweet pastries on one of Belgrade's oldest streets, Balkanska Ulica.

Instead, I decided to take them all home with me, digitally.
