SKYWATCH Friday--French Embassy and Orthodox Cathedral

Wow, it's Friday already. Here's a zoomed-in shot of the three figures atop the French Embassy in Belgrade, built in 1930, which stands literally a stone's throw away from Kalemegdan Park. They represent 'liberté, égalité, and fraternité.' That's the steeple of Belgrade's Orthodox Cathedral in the background.

My Belgrade blogger buddy, Vlada, (whom I have not met!) was kind enough to send me an easy-to-use High Definition Resolution program that I used on this photo to dramatize it. I still prefer photos 'au naturel,' but for dull days like when I took this photo (when will they end?), enhancement comes in handy.

See other bloggers' Skywatch' posts at SKYWATCH.

A fun juxtaposition! It's always nice to try everything which exists even if we don't like it, so we know what people are talking about.

It's interesting how a long lens will compress distance. At first glance I thought this was all one building...

I like the treatment, too. Sure brightens up that steeple. I see shutters on the steeple...I wonder if you can get up there from inside...

Your blog is a treasure. Both ways: greatest images and the idea to let people know Serbia better. I am in love with colors of your blog.

This is gorgeous. LE&F and the steeple both have a lovely patina. I would like to be opening those shutters and looking out at everything below. . .assuming they open and aren't just air vents :-).
Just today I did my first HDR from 3 bracketed shots I took last summer. Used Photoshop, but I'm not sure I did it correctly. Fun to see it at least worked in lining up all three shots. :-) Glad you had fun with the program your blog buddy sent. It looks very nice indeed.

THE ROOF CAVED IN....

Well, not the entire roof. Just the back side, which is not visible here. Every year I make a gingerbread house. Notice I said 'made,...
