ABC WEDNESDAY--"L" is for "Lucky me"

I posted this same photo on March 31st, but no one saw it, or at least left a comment. Not blaming you, but rather me, since somehow I goofed on the posting and it was still sitting there as a draft two days later.

To repeat myself, this is breakfast prepared by my good friend Pete, whose wife Mira is also a very, very good friend. They've helped me in all kinds of situations more than you can imagine, most recently with my mother, the reason I am now in the US.

Pete loves to cook and remembers who likes what. Here he remembered that I like two pieces of toast and coffee. The slice of turkey and the egg he added for protein! He also remembered I always sneak Bibi some of what I eat, so he put a slice of turkey on the little napkin...see it?

LUCKY me to have such good friends.

Bayside still-life

While walking Bibi on the shore along Henderson Bay near Gig Harbor, Washington, I came across this still-life on a large rock. My feeling is that it was arranged and left there by a child, perhaps encouraged by a parent not wanting to have more shells at home.... Love the little pink bird.

Am still in the US for quite a while yet, attending to a family matter.

No dogs, no cats, no pigs...

I've seen several of these signs on schoolyards, and I had never noticed them on previous trips, if indeed they were around. I haven't seen a pet pot-bellied pig in years, but apparently walking them on school grounds is still an issue! For that matter, I haven't seen anybody walk their cat in a long time either....

SUNDAY BRIDGES--"The last time I saw Paris....err...the sun!"

Took this photo from my daughter's rooftop terrace the day after I arrived and that was just about the last day I saw any sun here in Seattle. Yesterday I couldn't even see this bridge...

YOU can see other bridges at Louis La Vache's Sunday Bridges.

No posts from Belgrade for a while; am in the US for a family issue.

Reflections Weekend--Color in a bottle

Oh, it's been soooo gray and rainy here in Seattle since I've arrived....I am color-starved. Took this photo through a bottle in my daughter's breakfast nook window.... Today there would be raindrops reflected on the window, too....

See more reflections at Newtown Daily Photo.

Am still here in the US on a family issue. Sorry I am not able to visit blogs right now; it's all I can do to post a photo.

Theme day-EDGES and April Fool to you...

Hey, guess what? The world really IS flat! While helping my mother move here in the US, I came upon this painting (reproduction, actually) entitled "I Told You So!". and thought it was perfect for today's theme day of 'edges'.

So you see, the world really IS flat, no matter what you have heard, and these sailors are headed right over the edge down to....where? Where do you think?

He thinks of it all....

My very, very good friend's husband, who is also a very, very good friend, too, is retired and makes breakfast and dinners when guests are there. In this photo you can see he remembered that I like a light breakfast, two pieces of toast and butter, that's it. (And coffee, not shown!) He added a slice of turkey and an egg for protein..

He also remembered that Bibi stares at us until she gets something, so he placed some sliced turkey on the little napkin on the left of the photo.... How thoughtful. Thanks, Pete.

Am gone for several months to the US to attend to a family matter.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"K" is for "knick-knack"

It's times like this when I am happy I do not collect things anymore. I think the older we get, the more we downsize. I used to collect teapots in odd shapes, and still have a few, but it's downsize, downsize for me now.

But these knick-knacks are cute....

How about you? Do you collect something?

See more J's at ABC WEDNESDAY.

Am trying not to collect stuff now while in the US for several months.

Looney?

I am not sure if this is really a loon. I watched this bird hunt for food while most of its body remained under the water...sort of like a feathered Loch Ness monster...

Anybody know for sure?

Am in the US until mid-summer on a family issue.

Blue bells...

I think these are really grape hyacinths, but I used to call them 'blue bells' when I was little. And you?

Am in the US for several months.

Sunday Bridges: Seeing double

The 'older' Tacoma Narrows Bridge, linking Tacoma with the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington state where I am for a few months on a family matter, was built in 1950, replacing a bit older one now known as Gallopin' Gertie, that collapsed in1940...see this video. In 1990 voters approved the new bridge on the left, built a few years later, to relieve heavy traffic. That bridge was open first to walkers before traffic, and I walked it. Nice view...

See more bridges on Louis La Vache's Sunday Bridges.
