Ooops.

Well, like this earlier posting of mine, here's another example of a wrong name selection, especially for marketing in English-speaking countries! Yuhor is the name of a meat processing plant that is over 100 years old. "YU" stands for "Yugoslavia," which no longer exists, but I could not figure out what the last three letters signify.
Anyone know?

It reminded me of the name of an old bus company in my mother's village: SEXTUR (a portmaneau of Sexta -sixth... because it was in the then-Sixth Region-, and Turismo -tourism-). One time, an American friend visited my mom's village, and she laughed so much with it.

Hi Bibi, Are you sure that "Yu" is for Yugoslavia? Because there is a mountain called Yuhor in Serbia near Jagodina.

I look forward to seeing your reflections whenever you post them.

this is hysterical! & a great shot in general & to enlarge as well. Does the McCafe in the background have anything to do with McDonalds?

Hi, James. Yes, there is a mountain called Yuhor, and perhaps that's where the product gets its name, since I cannot see any other acronym/meaning for the last three letters. It may well be that the company originated there, though I don't see any evidence of that.

Lily--yes, there are McDonald's here....

It’s named by the mountain Juhor (or Yuhor) near the town where that meat industry is situated. Nothing to do with Jugoslavija (or Yugoslavia). Just mismatch in a name, which is funny for English speaking people, but there is not for any English speaking market anyway.

Earth is spinning around the Sun, not the other way around.

Thank you, Avala! :<)

Very funny, Bibi!
Lily, unfortunately, there are McDonald's everywhere!

Perhaps it might interest you (although I'm sure Bibi is aware of this fact) that the McDonald's in the background is THE FIRST Mac in the communist world, opened in 1986. I live in Canada now and I don't go close to junk food restaurants, but back in the time we used to go there religiously.
