ABC Wednesday 'J' is for 'Jagged'

While walking in Zemun (ZAY-moon), a nearby municipality of Belgrade, I came upon this old door with several glass panes. Actually, there had been several glass panes, but the others were completely gone, and all that remained of this one was some jagged, very old glass. I liked shapes and textures, so I took a photo for you to see, too.

Today is also the 11th anniversary of the NATO bombing of Serbia, which I showed you last year. Many windows were shattered at that time.

See other J's on ABC WEDNESDAY.

Even the difficult and jagged and ugly can be beautiful through the lens of an accomplished photographer like you.
I hope that part of your history doesn't repeat itself ever.

Bibi, is it possible this is left over from 11 years ago?

Fits the meme perfectly!

«Louis», like several of the others, wonders if this is left over from 11 years ago.

Paul/Louis,

Hi! You both wanted to know if it is possible that this is a window that had been blown out 11 years ago. I kind of doubt it, since nothing nearby was hit. Zemun was only hit, I believe, in one place. Most likely, this pane and the others are the result of door-banging, no replacement.

Buildings here were, and to some extent still are, buildings that belong to the state, with individual apartment owners (it's a long story...), so that means that few people are inspired to take care of something that does not on paper belong to them. 'Let the owner do it,' say they.

But it made a lovely photograph!

The jagged glass invites a closer depth at the deeper scene inside! Intriguing perspective!

It's hard to find people to replace glass these days.

I have such a vivid memories about 1999, I will have same interesting stories like my grandma had about WWII. :)

I wasn't afraid back then, I was teen. Just one time, when earthquake stroked during the night. Yes, we had bombing and earthquake that spring. I didn't know if I have night mare, if they are bombing my room, or maybe aliens attacked us. Anger and sadness came during the years, especially now when I am a mother, about lost of children lives.

Anyway this is lovely picture and it really reflects Belgrade , there is even graffiti.

A very cool post for the letter J!

It's an interesting photo! Definitely an art. Makes me wonder if there's a story behind this photo.

This one also looks to be 'tagged' by a graffiti-er

Don't know why, but broken glass always makes me feel the cuts in my hands and/or feet, even the ones that aren't there.

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
