REFLECTIONS WEEKEND- The doggies in the window

Not much of a reflection here, but couldn't resist posting this. Just goes to show you that you should always have your camera ready. Caught these cuties while stopped at a red light. Thank goodness for automatic windows; down mine went and snap, snap. Their owner was only too happy to have these pups pose.

ABC WEDNESDAY "O" is for "old"

I pulled over to take this photo of these shutters and matching moss on this old house near Kopachuck Park in Washington state.

There's even a matching daffodil.

Cat who swallowed the canary?

Maybe not the canary, but a finch or a crow or a red-winged blackbird? This beautiful cat lives in Birds Unlimited in Gig Harbor, Washington. He is a rescue cat....what a great place to live for a cat, though I imagine the birds steer clear of him. No birds for sale anyway in the store, just things bird-related like feeders and birdbaths!

My hair is longer

I've been letting my hair grow and now I am wearing dangling earrings rather than post ones. I bought this little hand in an Indian shop, but it appears I should have gotten a bigger one...

Am still in the US due to a pressing family matter.

Happy Easter!

Yesterday my mother, daughter, son-in-law, and I colored eggs, and here they are! Which one do you want?

Happy Easter to all of you, and thanks for your comments and thoughts while I am in the US for a few more months on a family matter.

REFLECTIONS WEEKEND-my world turned upside down

I am barely visible in this reflection through a series of inverted wine glasses at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. My own world turned upside down nearly three years ago, when my beloved husband passed away unexpectedly.

Today would have been our 34th anniversary.

SKYWATCH - Majestic Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier, or 'the mountain,' as it is known here, rises majestically in the distance. Viewed from Gig Harbor, Washington.

Bleeding hearts

I loved these flowers that used to grow in my grandmother's garden. These were photographed at a nursery I visited with my daughter, who's doing some landscaping.

What's your favorite flower? And for those of you who speak another language, what do you call them?

ABC WEDNESDAY-"N" is for "noshing"

Like these pastries? I did...of course not all of them. My daughter and son-in-law noshed on them... Yum.

See what others have done with the letter N on ABC WEDNESDAY.

Am in the US on a family matter for a couple more months.

Relax

I almost bought this little guy....and then decided no more foolish expenditures...but I am still thinking of him, so I may return to the store.

This trip has been stressful...I do need to relax.

Bigger than life

This is one of three very large statues in the vicinity (No surprise!) of the Space Needle in downtown Seattle.

What does its expression say to you?

SUNDAY BRIDGES--small, but mighty

These police boats on Lake Union under the Aurora bridge may look small, but they're mighty! Doing their duty daily!

REFLECTIONS WEEKEND--flaming!

I was intrigued by these flames in a restaurant on Queen Anne hill. I was snapping away when a waitress appeared at the door. Darn, I thought, she's going to ask me not to. But no! I was invited in for their promotion to have a complimentary coffee and pastry....so in I went.

SKYWATCH FRIDAY--stormy skies over daffodils

Stormy skies over a field of daffodils in La Conner, Washington.... This area is known for its fields of tulips, but few were open. It's a late spring!

It's coming......

The sun is coming, slowly but surely..... April showers bring May flowers, and we certainly have had our share of rain in Seattle. These flowers appeared before May, but others are still late in coming.

Not fancy, but pretty.

This little bird wasn't at all camera shy. Nice colors, even if they're not bright.

Chess or not?

Early one morning at the Pike Place Market I watched this fellow set up his chess set...or is it? The figures are not arranged like on a classic chessboard...what is it?

SKYWATCH--Hey, the sky is BLUE!!

I'm using scheduled posting for this, but the sky is NOT blue as I type. I liked the juxtaposition of the cloud, tree, and birds on this shot taken around Seattle's Green Lake.

In the US on family business.

Cold, but unstoppable....

Took this photo shortly after my arrival when there was a bit of sun, but that's all some Seattleites need to get out in summer wear. This girl skater reminded me of this one I photographed in Belgrade.

Yesterday it snowed in Everett, 20 or so minutes above Seattle....

I am still in the US on family matters.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"L" is for "Lucky me"

I posted this same photo on March 31st, but no one saw it, or at least left a comment. Not blaming you, but rather me, since somehow I goofed on the posting and it was still sitting there as a draft two days later.

To repeat myself, this is breakfast prepared by my good friend Pete, whose wife Mira is also a very, very good friend. They've helped me in all kinds of situations more than you can imagine, most recently with my mother, the reason I am now in the US.

Pete loves to cook and remembers who likes what. Here he remembered that I like two pieces of toast and coffee. The slice of turkey and the egg he added for protein! He also remembered I always sneak Bibi some of what I eat, so he put a slice of turkey on the little napkin...see it?

LUCKY me to have such good friends.

Bayside still-life

While walking Bibi on the shore along Henderson Bay near Gig Harbor, Washington, I came across this still-life on a large rock. My feeling is that it was arranged and left there by a child, perhaps encouraged by a parent not wanting to have more shells at home.... Love the little pink bird.

Am still in the US for quite a while yet, attending to a family matter.

No dogs, no cats, no pigs...

I've seen several of these signs on schoolyards, and I had never noticed them on previous trips, if indeed they were around. I haven't seen a pet pot-bellied pig in years, but apparently walking them on school grounds is still an issue! For that matter, I haven't seen anybody walk their cat in a long time either....

SUNDAY BRIDGES--"The last time I saw Paris....err...the sun!"

Took this photo from my daughter's rooftop terrace the day after I arrived and that was just about the last day I saw any sun here in Seattle. Yesterday I couldn't even see this bridge...

YOU can see other bridges at Louis La Vache's Sunday Bridges.

No posts from Belgrade for a while; am in the US for a family issue.

Reflections Weekend--Color in a bottle

Oh, it's been soooo gray and rainy here in Seattle since I've arrived....I am color-starved. Took this photo through a bottle in my daughter's breakfast nook window.... Today there would be raindrops reflected on the window, too....

See more reflections at Newtown Daily Photo.

Am still here in the US on a family issue. Sorry I am not able to visit blogs right now; it's all I can do to post a photo.

Theme day-EDGES and April Fool to you...

Hey, guess what? The world really IS flat! While helping my mother move here in the US, I came upon this painting (reproduction, actually) entitled "I Told You So!". and thought it was perfect for today's theme day of 'edges'.

So you see, the world really IS flat, no matter what you have heard, and these sailors are headed right over the edge down to....where? Where do you think?
