I loved the contrast between this girl's backpack and her 'bracelets'....or whatever they are...and her gloves...

ABC WEDNESDAY - "L" is for "Look before you leap"

You won't quite make it to the pool from this diving tower, which was part of Tasmajdan Park's swimming complex. This whole area of the park, like the park itself, is being renovated. Gee, think how people used to climb up those metal rungs in their bare feet. Ow.

Ah, spring...

Ah, spring...the sound of birds chirping, flowers popping open, and the click of cameras' shutters.

Spring brings many tourists to Belgrade like the ones above, who are spending a few hours in the city and Kalemegdan Park before returning to their cruise ship down the Danube.

The building in the back is a small gallery of Belgrade's Museum of Natural History, which is located in another part of the city.

Bibi and I meet many dogs on our walks...and their persons, too. Greta, on the left, is all ready to play, while Bojana, her person, looks on lovingly.

THEME DAY--cobblestones

These are my faithful sandals that I showed you once before on the Brooklyn Bridge three years ago. They've trod over many parts of India, the US, and Qatar and are still in pretty good shape. Now they're preparing for another season of pounding the pavement (and cobblestones) of Belgrade.

Many older people I see strolling along do so with their hands clutched behind their backs.

ABC WEDNESDAY--'K' is for 'kickin' it.'

We've had warm weather a bit and as soon as the temperatures rise, the people are in the park.... Each to his own preferred activity: Kickin' it like the man on the bench, or simply reading like the man in the background. I guess he's kickin' it in his own way.

One last stab

From early fall to late spring and sometimes like now a bit beyond, villagers come to Belgrade to sell wool sweaters, socks, and caps. They're wonderfully warm, and generally not so expensive. They make great souvenirs. This man is trying one last time, or so I imagine, to sell his wares rather than keep them for next year.

The town of Sirogojno (SEE-ro-goy-no) is famous for its fabulous sweaters. Unlike this man's, they're quite pricey, but just about everyone I know who lives here for a while has splurged on one, this writer included. Here's a link.
