SKYWATCH--The BIG setting sun

This huge sun said 'Good night' to me when I went out the other evening to take Bibi for her walk.

See other skies at SKYWATCH FRIDAY.

P.S. Changed my banner today. I think this is the family of geese you saw here , almost all grown up.

I'm watching you...

For the most part, cats make me nervous. This is my friend's cat, and I think it knows I prefer dogs...gosh, I don't even know if it is a he or a she...

SKYWATCH- Birds in flight

Not an original title, but that's just what this is. At first I thought the birds were crows, but they're rather large, so I think they may be gulls. I used my 200mm on this shot, so I can't be sure.

See what others have posted on SKYWATCH.

P.S. Why is my comment box not showing up? Help. Maybe it's a glitch on Blogger....
P.P.S. A HUGE THANKS TO Hilda of My Manila! SHE SOLVED MY PROBLEM, AND THE BOX IS BACK!!!

SKYWATCH--still gray...

Are you tired of gray where you live? I am. This is the best I can do this week for SKYWATCH
this week. Click on that link to see prettier skies! The church is one posted a while back, still under construction, slowly but surely.
Does anyone know what this tree is? We used to call them paw-paw trees when I was a kid, but I've Googled that and there's not the same.

SKYWATCH FRIDAY--GRAY SKY

Not a pretty sky in comparison with what most Skywatchers show, but although I changed this photo to black and white, it didn't look too much different in the color version. It was a chilly, gray morning...

To see other skies, probably in color, have a look at SKYWATCH

ABC Wednesday "W" is for "weather-worn wood"

Isn't this a great mish-mash of wood and a bit of rusty fence, too? This was taken in southern Serbia last year, when my husband and I visited a small village in search of someone selling honey. We found someone, and I waited in the car while my husband bought the honey. This was what was in front of me.

Forty days later...

Hard for my family and me to believe, but yesterday marked the 40 days following my husband's sudden and unexpected passing. According to Serbian Orthodox tradition, a memorial attended by close family and friends is held at the graveside on that day (yesterday October 1st), whereupon the priest offers more blessings. It is believed that the soul passes through the natural and supernatural world before moving on, and many prayers should be offered during the 40 days. This we have done, and we are still struggling to come to terms with this tragedy in our lives. He is missed every day, and will be loved forever.

I want to thank our very good friend and fellow photographer, Francois, who visited us this summer from Paris, and took this photo in the same cemetery where my husband lies. It dates from the early 1900's, and shows a ceramic photo of the person lying there.

Where'd the hot weather go?

This past weekend was downright chilly! Yesterday the weather widget on my blog read 10 degrees Celsius, a 20-degree or so drop from this summer's high temperatures. I bundled up and headed for the flea market near me where I had to do some shopping (main flea market here is usually all new stuff), and covered my camera with a plastic bag....
